The caravan has been stood empty for nearly 18 months, just because we have been busy working on our barn. We are wanting now do to some ground works around the barn, so the Caravan needs to go! I have just done a through clean internally and it’s been pressure wash externally ready for the new owner. She really is a Cracking Caravan for someone doing a self build like us
So…. in March of 2018 we sold our beautiful house in the town of Market Rasen, sold our Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes GLC estate and bought a old barn in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farmland and a 6 Berth static home, it’s was a totally new start for us, romanticising about a huge life change and visions of “the good life” ! Unfortunately, in our first week in our static home in the middle of our field, we were hit by one of the worst snow and cold weather in years…THE BEAST FROM THE EAST” !!! It hit us hard and we were unable to get out for nearly 11 days as the snow was 13 feet in places… the winds has caused terrible drifting and it was only one of the local farmers that were able to get to us and clear our 1 Mile track to the road… we were experienced “townies” and rural life “virgins” and this was a reality check for us that life in the middle of nowhere was going to hand us some challenging times!! I do have to say that our new static home kept us warm and dry… although the winds were very scary as we had no protection by the was of hedgerows or trees and it took a bartering… we both sat in it watching the snow fall and felt the Caravan at times physically rocking!! We held our breath and hunkered down. The static is fully glazed, radiators in all 3 bedrooms and hallway and a log burning stove in the front room, so we were snug, warm and dry. We survived to tell the story of the Beast from the East. What came next was not so easy to overcome….COVID. We had to stop the small amount of work we had done on the barn as council offices virtually closed their doors which meant so did their PLANNIING DEPARMENT, which was very bad news for us as it meant we had to ‘down tools’ for nealy 15 months…
Like everyone, we enjoined the stunning weather we had been gifted us and adapted well to new Static Home life….. what a strange time that was, been told you cannot leave your home!!! It’s quite funny if you think of it how, we are both not quite sure we would be so compliantly now!!! Then the world was given the green light to go, go, go,
We finally moved into the Barn in late September of 2023.
So, too the Caravan…..The condition I would describe as GOOD, internally and externally for a caravan of its age, approximately 30 years old
Externally there are age related marks / fading and a few minor dents to the aluminium body… nothing major or detrimental to the internal. Internally? There are marks to wall in places, mainly where I have had picture hanging… ALL of the pictures that were hung are available if you want them, so of course these marks can be covered mainly with the pictures, I have just removed them in order to clean all the walls… they are all in storage in the inbuilt wardrobe in the small middle bedroom. The seat cushions in the lounge area are well worn, but of course still completely usable. I have washed all the curtains and valance and ready should you wish to use them…. I haven’t put them back up as if I was buying this, I would put in fresh curtains, as they are faded and colour / pattern very dated!
Look…. the Caravan as I have mentioned is approximately 30 years old As like the human body, is isn’t quite as is was on its birth !! It’s clearly been on a site at the one of the costal hotspots once manufactured, but these sites are not able to keep them there after a certain age.. this was clearly sold into the ‘private’ and exploding markets for’Self builds’ and has had 2 previous families in it prior to ours, so, whilst look after the years internally, it’s dulled and tarnished over the years… and let’s face it, LIVED IN!! We were in it for nearly 6 years!! There are a few minor issues, internally and out. My best advise, get in your car and come and look at it, it’s either for you or it’s not…. SIMPLE!
Happy to address minor questions, but I do want to be very clear and to avoid disappointment, please do not send me a list of questions as long as the Harry Potter trilogy!
We leave in it for nearly 6 years, we were pretty much never cold, certainly not damp ( although the middle bedroom sometimes got a little moisture in the wardrobe and top corners on the internal side wall
Please note ;
The first photo show’s how we set the carvan up to look homely and with a PORCH This is optional, built out of studwork with shuttering ply that was painted external. It’s not in the best condition, but it was super handy for us, as it housed the boiler,large fride frezzer and washing machine and of course, avoided muddy feet directly into the caravan
There are 2 holes in each external door, both to accomadte cat flaps.
Also, the carpets are not the best in the main bedroom and small middle bedroom. The first small bedroom, they are good
Collection will need to be organized by the new owner, however we will be happy to help load and see it on it’s way this end
